Menu of the Week: Mexican Food Menu Long

Coming from Pittsburgh, PA, I'm pretty ashamed to say that I didn't have real Mexican food until I took a trip to Mexico City in 2006. But, oh, what an eye-opening trip that was. Corn tortillas fresh off the griddle, bright red, incredibly spicy chorizo and the BEST orange juice I have ever had in my life, bought from a lady on the street.

Our Mexican Food Menu Long reminds me of the menus I saw at the catinas in the Polanco. Except with more English and less octopus salad (which I accidentally ordered due to a mistranslation on my part. Whoops.)

Is there anything better than an overstuffed sandwich from a real deli, served with a giant garlicky pickle and a side of potato salad? Especially if it's served on Jewish rye bread... Oh my, I'm starting to get hungry sitting here.

It's blueberry season around the country, and that reminds me that I have to get going on a batch of homemade blueberry jam. Blueberry festivals are in full swing as well—from the Marshall County Blueberry Festival in Plymouth, Indiana to the Texas Blueberry Festival, people from all over are celebrating this tiny purple berry.
